Reading a Sauna Return Policy: What the Fine Print Really Means

A $6,000 home sauna is not a $60 gadget — and its return policy shouldn't read like one. Here's how to decode any infrared sauna return policy before you buy.
1. Who Pays Return Freight?
This is the big one. A crated sauna costs $400–$700 to ship back. Some brands bury "buyer pays return freight" three clicks deep. If you can't find it in 30 seconds, that's your answer.
2. Restocking Fees
15–25% restocking fees are common on large wellness equipment. On a $6,499 sauna, 15% is $975. Honest brands state it on the policy page — not in a PDF.
3. Trial Conditions
"30-day trial" means little if the sauna must be unassembled, unused, or in original packaging. Look for: assembled-and-used-allowed, clear day count, and refund timeline.
4. Damage & Defects
Freight damage happens. The policy should promise replacement — not repair-credit limbo — with the brand filing the freight claim, not you.
Our Approach
We publish all of this on our shipping & returns page: 30-day trial, return freight on you, 15% restocking — stated upfront. We'd rather lose a sale to honesty than win one to fine print.
